The Melba Valley Historical Society formed in 2013, one year after the City of Melba's successful centennial celebration. The goal of MVHS is to "...encourage the preservation of buildings, landmarks and memorabilia in the Melba Valley for the benefit of current residents and future generations, as well as those returning to visit, who consider this their 'home town.'" To carry out this goal, MVHS operates the Melba Valley Museum, located in the former Gardner Hotel/IOOF Lodge Hall, in downtown Melba.
Opening day, March 29, 2014 (left) and Ann Pettijohn Tomlinson at the May 4, 2024 celebration recognizing the building's listing on the National Register of Historic Places (right).
Melba is a small, agricultural community located a short distance from a variety of cultural and recreational opportunities. Museum guests are encouraged to also visit local businesses, sites and events such as Melba's Olde Tyme 4th of July celebration, Crossroads Museum at Celebration Park, Cleo's Ferry Museum and Nature Trail, and more.
